Cryptocoryne Wendtii (Cryptocoryne wendtii) is an aquatic plant in the family Araceae. It is native to Sri Lanka. Cryptocoryne wendtii is the workhorse of the genus and probably the most widely sold aquarium plant that is not an Anubias. It comes in green, brown, red and bronze forms, all the same species, and the colour a given plant settles into depends as much on light and substrate as on which label it arrived under. It is Sri Lankan, reaches around 20 cm, and grows in medium light without CO2 at 22 to 28 °C (72–82 °F) in soft to moderately hard water. The one thing every buyer should expect is the melt: newly planted wendtii commonly drops every leaf within a fortnight and then rebuilds from the roots. That is the plant adapting, not dying. Leave it in the substrate.
